Exclusive: Hamas-Linked Weapons Cache Found in Vienna, Europe at Risk

Vienna — Austria’s domestic intelligence service has uncovered a weapons cache in Vienna believed linked to Hamas, raising the risk of possible terrorist attacks in Europe. A 39-year-old British citizen with alleged close ties to the cache was arrested in London on Monday as part of an internationally coordinated investigation by the Directorate for State Security and Intelligence (DSN). The cache, found in a suitcase in a rented storage room in Vienna, contained five handguns and 10 magazines. Authorities say the investigation suggests the weapons were to be used against Israeli or Jewish institutions in Europe. The UK’s National Crime Agency confirmed the arrest; the suspect remains in custody until his next hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said the mission is zero tolerance for terrorists, and the DSN described its network as international with ties to Hamas. The case underscores Europe’s ongoing vigilance against cross-border extremism and the need for continued cooperation between Austrian authorities and partners in the UK and beyond.
